Getting Pumped For Stepsisters

By Shane R

Who knew that stepsisters would be such an interesting theme for a movie, huh? Well, Disney sure thinks so, and here is why. It has everything to do with Cinderella and the legacy of that series.

Who Is Involved?

Disney could not ask for a better duo to help with their Evil Stepsisters movie than Annie Mumolo and Kristen Wiig. Since the two had so much success in Barb and Star go to Vista Del Mar, Disney wanted to see if they could catch magic in a bottle twice. The producers will not be half bad for this film either, involving Will Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum.

Other Movie Inspirations

Barb and Star is not the only movie, TV, or film that has brought them success. Wiig has had a lot of time on Saturday Night Live over the years, as well as the two being the inspiration behind the storied Bridemaids. Wiig even played the criminal Cheetah in the most recent Wonder Woman movie. Talk about branching out! Because of their amazing work, many have hoped that they would even take on The Muppets series down the road, too.

Re-imagining Disney

Disney certainly has been thinking outside of the box lately to create different sagas and films. But, this next journey might be one of their biggest. Some of the other films upcoming include Maleficent, Cruella, Gaston and LeFou, and Cinderella 3: A Twist in Time. No matter what you are in the mood for, there is something for everyone on Disney and Disney Plus.
