Kaley Cuoco On Being Gutted After Losing Knives Out Role
Kaley Cuoco’s journey through Hollywood has seen its share of ups and downs, and her disappointment over losing a role in the highly anticipated Knives Out sequel to Kate Hudson is no exception. In an interview with Glamour, the Emmy-nominated star of The Flight Attendant, aged 36, shared her initial excitement and subsequent devastation upon learning she hadn’t clinched the part.
Cuoco candidly admitted that she was all but sure the part was hers and had even packed for Greece! Unfortunately, things didn’t turn out like that. She revealed that this setback hit her harder than usual, leading to a night filled with tears. The role had seemed within reach after rounds of auditions and chemistry reads, leaving her shattered by the final outcome.
However, the following day brought a surprising turn of events when she received an offer to star in the rom-com Meet Cute alongside Pete Davidson. Initially skeptical about her prospects, Cuoco was persuaded to give the script a chance. To her delight, she found it to be “the most magical little script,” realizing that missing out on Knives Out 2 had opened a door to a different opportunity.
Reflecting on the experience, Cuoco acknowledged feeling initially blindsided by the rejection. But despite the disappointment, Cuoco expressed contentment with how things unfolded, emphasizing that both she and Hudson were meant to be where they are.
While Cuoco wasn’t provided with specific reasons for not landing the role, she recalled feeling invincible beforehand, eagerly anticipating the chance to work alongside Daniel Craig. Despite the setback, she remains optimistic about the future, leaving the door open for a potential audition for the third installment of the franchise.
In May 2021, it was announced that Hudson, 42, would join the star-studded cast of Knives Out 2, which includes Daniel Craig, Ethan Hawke, and Janelle Monáe, among others. Hudson expressed her gratitude for the opportunity, describing the cast as “absolutely wonderful.”
