Kim Kardashian Supports Her Sister’s New Business Venture

The Kardashians are entrepreneurs. Most of us are aware. The family has ventured into various industries, from entertainment, beauty & fashion, and recently in beverage and foods. This recent business endeavor is by Kendall Jenner, who launched her tequila brand: 818 Tequila. The brand is vanilla flavored, though you can also choose other fruit flavors. According to the U.S. Sun, Kendall Jenner’s tequila brand has won various awards, including the Ultimate Spirits Challenge, where it won the Chairman’s Trophy. At the global Tequila Awards, it also won the Best Reposado Tequila.

Nonetheless, Kendall’s brand has already encountered lots of criticism. Immediately after its launch, Twitter users attacked Jenner, criticizing her for misuse of the Mexican culture. For example, one tweet read that Kendall opening a tequila brand, having no knowledge of Mexican culture and branding it “818 tequila” is gentrification.
In contrast, some of Kendall’s fans congratulated her, stating that she wasn’t the first white celebrity to produce a tequila line, and thus she doesn’t deserve to receive all the hate she has been receiving. One of the strongest defenses came from her sister, Kim Kardashian. Kim took to Instagram and posted a picture of Kendall, Kim, and their other sisters, Khloe and Kylie, surrounded by 818 Tequila package boxes at the company’s launch party on May 21, 2021. This photo had a caption of her describing her pride in her sister’s new 818 tequila brand. Others who have offered support include celebrities Drake, Chris Brown, and Katy Perry.
